Missouri Dispensary Licensing
Earlier this month the state of Missouri dished out their first licenses for Marijuana Dispensaries. A whopping 1,200+ total applications were submitted. The Missouri Board of Health awarded 12 applicants for each of their 28 congressional districts.
This move has been long awaited for the Missouri cannabis community. Most voters assumed that cannabis would have been legal by now. The state put a substantial amount of time into developing the necessary measures to safeguard the industry.
Missouri Metrc Seed to Sale Tracking
One if the most crucial puzzle pieces when states go legal is the tracking system. Applicants are limited to a number of plants they’re allowed to grow. In order to effectively manage the consistently rotating crop, a “seed to sale” tracking software & tool must be adopted by the state’s enforcement agency. This provides a level of transparency needed to keep all licensees in check.
Missouri has chosen to roll out with Metrc, the most popular seed to sale tracking system in the United States. Metrc is based in Florida and is implemented into 13 other legalized states.
The In’s and Out’s of Missouri Metrc
The state of Missouri will require all licensed facility types to keep an updated inventory count in Metrc. Anytime a product is produced, sold, transported or even disposed of, it needs to be logged in the software. This can be an often difficult task for busy business owners.
At Existo, we often refer to Metrc as the “single point of truth”. Meaning, the state is only ever going to care about the information that lives inside of Metrc. Learning and mastering the software will easily become one of your most important duties. No worries, Existo is here to help.
